During Term 1 WDSS is going to run the second edition of Beginner’s Python course. The course is designed for anyone completely new to Python or even programming in general. In addition to the teaching sessions and homework sheets, every participant is matched with a mentor who serves as a first point of contact for those taking the course and is expected to help with the homework exercises and check on the progress of their mentees.

Requirements

  • Strong coding skills in Python—the material covered in Beginner’s Python course focuses on programming fundamentals. Topics you should be comfortable with are:
    • Data Types, Variables, Basic Input-Output Operations, Basic Arithmetics Operations
    • Boolean Values, Conditional Execution, Loops, Lists and List Processing
    • Functions, Recursive strategies, Scope of Variables
    • Tuples, Dictionaries
    • Modules, Packages, Error handling
    • Reading from and writing to a text file
  • Good communication skills.
  • Positive attitude, willingness to help others and share your passion.
  • Ability to commit roughly 2 hours per week to the role.
